Saving Women from Stroke

As community hospitals, we are challenged daily to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve while keeping our health-care business vibrant and successful.

Have you considered women-targeted vascular services as the “Holy Grail” of community health, as well as of hospital success? With one in three women NOT knowing a single sign of stroke, but 30 percent of all strokes happening to women under 65, there is a “life-mine” of immediate opportunity. And with atrial fibrillation, diabetes, and high blood pressure as dominant risk factors for stroke, there is a slew of consumer education and diagnostic testing opportunities for identifying the high-risk women in your community.

That’s why Spirit Health Group’s HEARTCARING hospitals have partnered with the National Stroke Association to create an information-and-strategy-packed VIRTUAL HEALTH FAIR to improve the health and even save the lives of American women. Download information, ideas, case studies, and resources at your interest and leisure.

Enter our virtual health booth and experience this influential partnership with the National Stroke Association.

HeartCaring’s virtual health fair booth goes live today. Make sure to stop by and visit us.

The Power of Pink Line Planning

From shoes to healthcare, in today’s market, it’s safe to assume that it’s probably a woman making the purchase. Companies that both recognize the significant buying power held by women, and embrace this power by adopting a gender-specific marketing strategy, are the future.  And in highly competitive and growing industries like healthcare, tapping into the female demographic could be the difference between success and failure.

Why women? Women bring in an estimated $200 billion toward hospital bottom lines. They represent more than 1.3 billion cases in inpatient and outpatient care each year in the U.S. Continue reading

One of three U.S. women will be treated for a pelvic health condition by age 60

Pelvic Health Service Line GrowthThe number of women impacted by pelvic health conditions is climbing.

The National Women’s Health Resource Center (NWHRC) estimates that at least one-third of all women (about 35 million) will be treated for a pelvic health disorder by the age of 60 – and even more women silently suffer without diagnoses, according to their latest report.

The Women’s Health Foundation reports that the costs of pelvic health conditions total over $30 billion annually. Understanding that their hospital cannot afford to NOT expand on this under-served patient population, hospital leaders across the country are searching for new, profitable models in pelvic health programming; models that offer unique, centralized approaches to diagnostics, clinical care and one-on-one patient education.

Click here to learn more about our upcoming Pelvic Health Conference, which will focus on teaching you how to grow and transform your pelvic health service lines.

Larry King Cardiac Foundation & HeartCaring Join Forces

The HeartCaring Network of Spirit Health Group is robust, with more than 50 hospitals members. But thanks to a major new partnership, we just got a whole lot bigger. We are proud to announce that Spirit Health Group and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation have joined forces in the fight against the No. 1 killer of women — heart disease.

Heart disease threatens all women, and here are some recent statistics to illustrate just how prevalent and dangerous this disease has become:

  • Eight million women are currently living with heart disease.
  • More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined
  • This year, heart disease will take the lives of one in every three women
  • 90 percent of women have at least one or more risk factors of heart disease
  • When cardiovascular disease statistics are divided along racial lines, Black Americans have a 30 percent higher mortality rate from heart disease than white Americans.

Our hope is that by expanding access to heart health education, prevention and care, we can turn these numbers around. Together, we will work across race, gender and socio-economic status toward one goal: a heart healthy America.

The HeartCaring-Larry King partnership will be publicly announced at two very special events:

  • The Larry King Cardiac Foundation Gala in Washington D.C. on May 19, 2012
  • The 8th annual HeartCaring Conference in San Antonio, Texas from May 16 – 18, 2012.
